The world's second-largest food and drink company, Kraft, has appointed Irene Rosenfeld as CEO at its global offices in the US.

Rosenfeld joins Kraft from Frito-Lay North America, a division of PepsiCo, where she was chairman and CEO. She replaces Roger Deromedi who has mutually agreed to leave in order to pursue other interests.

Rosenfeld said: "I believe that we have a bright future ahead and look forward to working with the board and our management team to assure Kraft's leadership in the food and beverage industry."

Louis Camilleri, chairman of Kraft Foods, added: "Irene is one of the most talented and respected executives in the consumer goods industry and we are thrilled that she is coming to Kraft."
