99p Stores will beat Poundland to the punch by making its debut in Ireland next month – under the new banner of €uro 50 Stores.

The first store under the new fascia will open in Dublin on 7 September. It establishes the company as Ireland’s first single-price retailer, with everything in-store selling for €1.50 or less.

The news comes after rival Poundland earlier this month announced plans to launch in Ireland under the banner Dealz. Poundland declined to confirm whether it would operate as a single-price retailer in the country.

“This is yet further proof that European consumer spending patterns have changed forever,” said 99p Stores director Hussein Lalani.

“The days of consumers being ripped off paying two and three euros for day-to-day essentials are a thing of the past.”
