Nisa-Today’s is bidding to tap into the seasonal demand for pancakes by launching a new chilled offering in time for Shrove Tuesday.
The group is bringing out a pack of convenient ready-made pancakes under its Heritage own-label banner.
This year, Shrove Tuesday falls on February 8 and the newcomer (rsp: £1.29 per 500g pack of eight pancakes) will be supported with an introductory ‘50% extra free’ promotion in the lead up to Pancake Day. Steve Dixon, Nisa-Today’s trading controller for chilled products, said: “The sweet pancakes are ideal because consumers want a product to be quick and easy to prepare.”
Unilever UK Foods, meanwhile, is telling retailers that they could enjoy seven times the normal sales of its Jif Lemon brand in the fortnight before Pancake Day if they create theatre in-store using the Jif Lemon character Jeff Jif.
