Tesco has stepped up efforts to tackle its availability problem with a major overhaul of its fresh food supply chain.

Following a similar initiative with ambient produce, the multiple, usually one of the worst performers on availability in the Grocer 33, is to roll out its 'Full and Fresh promise' across 600 stores by Christmas.

The programme, which has already been implemented in Northern Ireland stores, introduces continuous replenishment - wave deliveries of goods into stores twice a day - as well as a series of stock checks throughout the day to check stock levels and ensure on-shelf availability.
