Soft drinks group AG Barr's half-year pre-tax profit to 29 July rose 8.2% to £9.4m on sales up 8.9% at £72.2m.

The company, which makes Irn Bru, said that it expected to meet its expectations for the full-year, despite competitive trading conditions.

Roger White, chief executive of AG Barr, added: “The sustained drive to develop and broaden our portfolio alongside the above average summer weather has delivered improved top line performance despite continued competitive market conditions.”
