German discount supermarket group Aldi is attempting to attract more upmarket customers to its UK stores.

As part of a £500m investment to expand its business into the UK, the group will launch a £6m television campaign highlighting fashionable lines such as extra virgin olive oil and pinot grigio wine.

Aldi wants to increase its number of UK stores from 283 to 500 within the next five years in an attempt to gain a 5% share of the market.
