Aldi plans to sell of seven of its sites across Melbourne, after three years of expansion into Australia.

The company hopes to raise about A$7m from selling off surplus land having already developed the sites for its own uses.

After building its supermarkets and car parks, many of the sites were left with redundant land because, it said, in many cases it had to buy sites that were bigger than it required in order to secure locations.

Aldi has 45 stores in New South Wales, 26 in Victoria and 12 in Queensland.
