Sainsbury has poached another senior manager from arch rival Tesco. Xavier Vidal will be joining the retailer’s trading division at the start of August as a category manager.
Vidal was most recently a category manager for confectionery, biscuits and seasonal with Tesco. He has also done stints buying hot beverages, sugar and cereals, and beers, wines and spirits. Vidal was with French group Auchan before he joined Tesco.
In the new year, Ken McMeikan joined Sainsbury from Tesco as retail director.
Sainsbury has also added to its senior management. Stewart Honour will move to the newly created role of head of supply chain for convenience, while Richard Keenlyside, currently IT director for Bells Stores, will join as head of IT for convenience.
