Arla Foods is set to shut 17 dairies as part of an extensive restructuring of the giant Swedish/Danish company. A new strategy aims at growing the dairy company by an average 10% per year. The closure of the dairies, all of which are situated in Sweden and Denmark, will mean the loss of 1,000 jobs, although 350 new jobs will be created with the expansion of remaining operations. The restructuring will not affect operations in the UK which remains an important market for the company which is looking to develop its position in butter and fresh milk. {{NEWS }}
