Sales from continuing operations at Arla Foods grew from £676.1m to £685.2m in the six months to March 31, results released today show.

The group also said that pre-tax profits doubled to £10.1m from 5.0m for the same period last year.

Sir David Naish, chairman of Arla Foods, said that he anticipates a period of stability in the sector now that the major supermarkets have made their supply decisions.

Arla successfully maintained its share of supermarket milk and would gain additional Morrisons volumes from October 2005, notably in Scotland, he added.
