Asda picked up the BBC Food and Farming Award this week for best National or Regional Retailer.

Asda was nominated by British shoppers and was shortlisted alongside Waitrose and Bristol-based greengrocer Stokes.

Judges were impressed by the supermarket retailer’s local sourcing scheme and its relationship with UK farmers.

Chris Brown, agriculture strategy manager, said: “It’s a real honour to collect this award and a testament to all of the hard work our farmer suppliers have put in. Together we have expanded our ranges and delivered great British food to millions of customers each week.”
