Asda is trialling a drinks can recycling programme for its staff as part of a bid to send zero waste to landfill by the end of next year.

The Every Can Counts scheme, a workplace and university recycling programme for drinks cans, is funded by the beverage can industry and Wrap. The initiative has been introduced to 49 stores in the north west of England and Asda plans to roll it out to all 360 branches eventually.

"We are happy to be supporting Every Can Counts," said Asda waste and recycling manager Jonathan Wylie. "It is important we make it as easy as possible for colleagues to recycle."
