Asda will have to wait at least another three months to find out if it can build a store in the original 'Tesco Town' of Inverness.

An application hearing for a 70,000 sq ft store in Slackbuie was postponed last week after councillors demanded more information on the effect on traffic.

Asda had drafted in local community leaders to voice their support but they will now not get a say until the planning board reconvenes in September.

Many residents are backing the plans because they want more choice. Tesco has 52% market share in Inverness and is appealing against the refusal of a fourth supermarket.
