Asda is extending its local sourcing programme by launching a range in its Sussex stores.

'Locally produced in Sussex' is a new local food range that will be rolled out to five Sussex Asda stores on 15 September. It will bring more than 60 regionally sourced food products from across the county to the stores.

The project is run in partnership with Malcolmson Fine Foods, in Hailsham, East Sussex, which is supplying produce to stores.

Asda has eight food hubs around the country, which give small fine food producers a chance to sell their goods in Asda stores.

Karen Todd, head of local sourcing at Asda, said: "In other parts of the UK we have a strong reputation for supporting local producers.

"We want to take this success into our south east stores and Sussex is an important market where we hear from our customers that they want local."

Asda is the headline sponsor for this year's Brighton Food Festival.
