Asda will play host to a battle of the political titans in the run-up to the election.

Prime minister Gordon Brown will next month post an election broadcast on the supermarket’s website in a bid to appeal directly to Asda’s 18 million weekly shoppers.

Tory leader David Cameron and Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats will also post videos, as will the leaders of the Scottish and Welsh nationalist parties.

Spokesmen for the parties will also plug in to an online conversation with users of Asda.com.
