Asda will invest £40m in four recycling centres, the supermarket group has said.

Ian Bowles, Asda’s head of corporate social responsibility, said that Asda will buy and build four centres in Lutterworth, Wakefield, Skelmersdale and Bedford.

He said that when Asda’s lorries leave the stores after a delivery they will be packed with recyclable material which will then be transported to the new centres.

Waste at the site will be collected, baled and then transported to other companies for reprocessing.
