Asda is one step closer to launching the Fast Pay lottery initiative that allows shoppers to buy tickets at the supermarket checkout.
It is looking to recruit a petrol operations manager, whose remit would also include management of its lottery business and project management of the launch of Fast Pay. The service, which was pioneered by Tesco last year, allows shoppers to choose their numbers in the usual way and then buy the ticket at the checkout, with the numbers printed out on the till receipt.
However, despite the details of the service within the recruitment ad, a spokeswoman for Asda said it was not looking to launch the service at the moment.
A spokeswoman for lottery operator Camelot added that no further deals had been signed since Tesco, but confirmed it was in "very early talks" with major chains.
