Asda has opened its first pet centre at its Eastlands store in Manchester to offer a range of pet merchandise alongside its normal petfood offering.
The new range comprises more than 140 new lines aimed at catering for the health and wellbeing of customers' pets.
They include pet carriers, cat scratching posts and grooming accessories. The pet centre has been brought to life with interactive pet noises and includes a touchscreen information point on the full range, as well as information for new and existing pet owners.
Asda petcare buyer Ayaz Alam said: "Our customers told us that they wanted to buy everything for their pet under one roof.
"And prices are 10% to 50% cheaper than existing pet superstores."
Asda plans to open more pet centres and offer pet insurance later this year.
