Asda has extended its lead over Tesco as the cheapest supermarket for non food.
The Grocer 33 Non Food Report reveals that at £184.42, Asda is currently £1.77 cheaper than Tesco for the same basket.
Last November, Asda was just 40p cheaper than its arch rival in our quarterly survey of 33 non food items, with the latest survey revealing it has slashed prices across all the categories on our list, which covers kitchen, bathroom, electrical, home office, and clothing.
Tesco commented that it was set for a round of price-busting initiatives in coming months as well as an extension of eletrical ranges.
Despite slashing the price of nine items and selling the cheapest DVD player, Sainsbury was £38.74 more expensive than Asda, mainly due to higher prices on clothing.
