Asda plans to help its customers stave off colds this winter by offering low cost flu jabs at all of its stores.

Shoppers will be charged just under £12 for a vaccination, £8 less than the fee charged for private flu jabs.

The Department of Health has launched its annual free vaccination programme for people over 65 and others at high risk from flu. And Asda will have to tell those who might be eligible for free vaccinations if that is the case.

Asda’s scheme will use nurses from Doctorcall who will take applicants' medical history before giving a jab.
