Asda has recorded third-quarter like-for-like sales growth in “low-single digits” and total sales up in the “high-single digits”.

The supermarket group “did a very nice job” during the period and increased its market share, its US parent company Wal-Mart said.

“Compared to the third-quarter last year, an additional one million customers have started shopping at Asda which is a reflection of improvements in the pricing, assortment and customer experience,” Wal-Mart said in a conference call.

Wal-Mart reported an 11.2% increase in third-quarter net profit to $2.65bn on sales up 12% at $83.5bn.
