Asda is to ramp up its non-food sales by stocking big name brands of home electrical equipment.

The supermarket’s present offer is an exclusive low-cost range of TVs and DVD players from Pacific.

But the chain will now be stocking TV and audio products from Sony, JVC, Panasonic and Toshiba at 10 of its supercentres across the UK.

General manager for electronics at Asda, David Stewart, said: “Customer trust is increasing in Asda as a serious electronics retailer, and we will do all we can to meet the requests of our customers and give them the choice of products they want at the premium end of the market.”
