Asda will bus staff into work during the proposed five-day strike this week to protect workers who cross picket lines.

Last week staff at Asda's 20 distribution centres across the UK voted for a five-day strike in a long-running dispute over working conditions and union recognition. The strike is due to run from 00.01am on 30 June to 23.59pm on 4 July.

Reports suggest that Asda is planning to bus staff in because it claims that the GMB union will film staff entering and leaving depots.

An Asda spokesman said: “Collleagues are calling us saying that the GMB's plans are equivalent to electronic bullying so we are doing all we can to ensure anyone who wants to work can do, without having their number plate recorded by the GMB.”
