A communications system is being tested by Asda in six of its stores to improve customer service at checkouts.

Headset devices have been installed to improve the communication between the checkouts and customer service staff on the floor.

Checkout staff have a keypad with bespoke request buttons such as ‘bag packer’, ‘replace item’ or ‘till roll required’.

Customer service staff, wearing a wireless headset, hear the request and checkout number.
