Asda is giving shoppers the opportunity to sample and buy products from central Europe to mark Europe Day 2003 and raise the profile of the countries that will join the EU in 2004.
A Taste of new Europe' stands are due to be at 25 Asda stores today (May 10) and will include products such as Hungarian wine, Czech beer and Polish smoked sausage.
Europe minister Denis MacShane, who will be celebrating the day at Asda's Wakefield store, said: "Next year, the EU will become the biggest single market in the world with 450 million people. What better way to celebrate the economic and cultural transformation of Europe than through the common language of food and drink."
