Asda's director of corporate and legal affairs John Longworth has left the company in a worldwide shake up of Wal-Mart's legal structure.
Longworth's main board role disappeared after the legal and corporate affairs function separated. "I did not want to cobble roles together to stay on," said Longworth. "I had a really good time at Asda and in my five years there everything happened - a successful recovery, a restructure and a change of CEO. I also led Asda through the Competition Commission inquiry."
Longworth will now "have some fun" - he's already signed up for a painting class and aims to finish writing a work of fiction.
