Spar wholesaler Appleby Westward Group has bought a fourth store its first c-store which will trade as part of its newly formed company-owned stores division.

The wholesaler, which operates in south west England, has purchased a former Woolworths store in Bridport, which it will open in early 2010 as a Spar-branded 3,000 sq ft c-store. Earlier this year, AWG snapped up three Somerfields that are set to become the first Eurospars in the south of England.

AWG plans to open 20 stores in the next 10 years.
