Icelandic retail predator Baugur Group owns many leading retailers on the UK high street. Its biggest interest in the grocery sector is Iceland, which it bought as part of a £326m deal for the Big Food Group in 2005. Booker and Woodward Foodservice were also included in the deal.
It also owns specialist snacks & ingredients retailer Julian Graves and tea & coffee company Whittard of Chelsea. It said this month the Julian Graves business was under review after approaches.
Outside grocery, Baugur owns House of Fraser, Hamleys and jeweller Aurum. It also owns fashion retailers including Mosaic Fashions - parent of Oasis, Warehouse, Principles, Karen Millen, Coast and Odille - as well as Whistles, Jane Norman, and All Saints. It holds minority stakes in Debenhams, Moss Bros, French Connection and Woolworths.
