Bestway is displaying wall-mounted advertising across its estate through a deal with media company, Signwaves Media. Signwaves is talking to other cash & carry operators with a view to expand the initiative across at least 60 sites by the end of 2002. Bestway has hired out two or three 6-sheet signs positioned near the entrance and exit to most of its 27 outlets. The bus-shelter-sized frames are already being used by the Food Standards Agency to display posters for its campaign to reduce food poisoning. Bestway marketing manager Farhat Abbas said the company would start targeting the fmcg sector in May: "I am sure this venture will prove popular for many of our suppliers." Signwaves director David Jenkins said: "Cash and carry sites are ideal for new product launches, seasonal campaigns or other media activity.
