C&C giant Bestway has developed a magazine for catering customers as part of moves to grow the foodservice side of its business.

The first issue of the quarterly Essentially Catering was published this week in a bid to reach caterers in time for the Christmas buying spree.

The 70-page issue has a print-run of 60,000 and contains news, recipes, case studies, advice and product information. It will be available through all Bestway and Batleys depots, but will also be distributed to caterers by post and through the wholesaler's sales force.

Bestway has been working on improving its catering offer since taking over the Batleys operation, which traditionally had a greater focus on foodservice, in January 2005.

Earlier this year it extended availability of its cut-price catering range from 15 depots to 30. It has also rolled out Batleys catering lines to most of its Bestway branches and increased the number of ambient, fresh and frozen lines available.
