Bestway Cash & Carry is targeting retailers with the launch of a budget range of 300 products, which retail at £1, in five Bestway and six Batleys depots.

All the warehouses are in major conurbations and will act as a test bed for the £-line own label range.

It covers homeware, hardware & cleaning, stationery, children's stationery, toys and sweets and is targeted at discounters, market traders and independents. Items include 5-tub packs of bubbles, screwdrivers and stationery.

Initially, products will be available to retail customers at an introductory price of 49p, excluding VAT, compared with the usual price of 55p. Bestway MD Younus Sheikh said: "We expect to be able to extend our customer base to pound shops and market traders as well as giving traditional retailers the opportunity to stock these items."

Bestway has introduced yellow and red areas in participating depots to highlight the range and is offering PoS to promote it.
