A promotion by cash and carry operator Bestway to mark its 30th anniversary has boosted sales by a fifth, according to the company. The 30/30 drive started in July and runs until the end of September, with deep
discounts on 90 product lines and bonus days when customers get extra discounts of 30%. The deals operate across all 49 Bestway and Batleys depots.

Bestway managing director Younus Sheikh said: "The response is the biggest we have ever seen. The 30/30 promotion has increased gross turnover by about 20% at the larger depots. On some of the promotional lines, we have seen sales increases of up to 70%." He added it was too early to gauge the long-term impact, but was optimistic the initiative had attracted a host of new customers.

The major companies and brands that are taking part in the promotion include Cadbury, Nestlé, Kellogg, Walkers, Mars, Kimberly-Clark, Heinz, Diageo, Scottish Courage, Constellation Wines and GSK.
