Booker has notched up a 5.1% increase in full-year like-for-like sales.

The C&C giant said total sales had increased 6.2% to £3.6bn in the year to 25 March, with non-tobacco up 5.3% and tobacco up 4.9%. It also served 28,000 extra customers, with sales to caterers up 6.3% and sales to retailers up 4.6%.

Net cash had increased from £7m last year to about £27m and profits had remained in line with expectations, said CEO Charles Wilson. "The UK economy is expected to remain challenging but we are committed to helping our customers prosper amid the uncertainties," he added.
