Booths has secured planning permission to build a store in Penrith, Cumbria.

The supermarket chain has had its eye on the town for some time. When Penrith's Morrisons store was damaged by fire in December, Booths offered shoppers a free shuttle bus to its Keswick store, 17 miles away. The store will be located on previously developed commercial land at the north end of the town centre and plans are currently being developed.

Booths opened two new stores last year and plans two more within the next year, at Hesketh Bank and Media City in Salford.
