Boots has opened its 200th store in Thailand.
The new store, in central Bangkok, is the latest opening since Boots arrived in Thailand in 1997. It now employs 1,400 people in the country, including 330 registered pharmacists.
Boots’ Thailand stores offer a range of services and about 2,500 Boots branded products. Roughly 1,000 of those are sourced and manufactured locally.
“This opening is an excellent illustration of our ambition to make Boots a global brand and Alliance Boots a significant player in Asia,” said Boots executive chairman Stefano Pessina. “The Group’s presence and achievements in Thailand will be a great asset for our further expansion in the region.”
Chief executive of Boot’s pharmaceutical wholesale division Ornella Barra praised Boots Thailand team for their “continued hard work and exceptional commitment”, adding that the milestone of 200 stores had been reached despite “unprecedented challenges in recent times, including severe flooding.”
