Booker is helping independents fight back against the "cynical tactics" of the multiples who are using browsing time to extend their Sunday trading hours. The C&C group is distributing free posters that will allow local stores to promote the fact that they too are open ­ and not just for browsing. Booker's marketing director Steven Sharp said: "Like so many others, we were outraged to hear of this blatant bending of the rules by giants. The move is yet again detrimental to independents. "We want to do everything we can to help our customers fight back and win through during the Christmas period." The poster, which is available in all Booker branches nationwide this week, features The Grocer's article on the supermarkets' browsing tactics.
