Sir, Your feature on GB manufacturing ('Made in Britain: a new dawn?', 25 June), paints an unnecessarily gloomy picture.

Just this week at the Society of Motor Manufacturers, Stephen Odell, European CEO of Ford, highlighted the importance of the coalition government's desire to expand UK manufacturing output. At Coca-Cola Enterprises we see an important and positive future for manufacturing in this country.

For our part, 95% of the soft drinks we sell in GB are made here. This month, we are due to publish our annual CRS report, which will show how we continue to invest in our six GB manufacturing sites and how we do so with a passionate ongoing focus on leading progress against our demanding sustainability agenda.

Our ambition is to grow more, using less. Investing in manufacturing is key to achieving that here in GB.
