CJ Lang has completed its acquisition of Spar retailer AM Landsburgh.

The wholesaler will take on 10 Spar stores in Dundee and Fife, upping its company-owned estate to 105 stores.

Managing director Scott Malcolm said the investment demonstrated CJ Lang’s commitment to Spar following the disposal of its Martex cash & carry division in November.

“This acquisition rounds off what has been a very positive year for us in terms of strategic refocus,” he said. “Disposing of a non-core business has been pivotal in allowing us to estate.”

Malcolm added: “We are grateful to the Landsburgh family, with whom we have enjoyed a highly valued trading relationship over many years and who have been fantastic supporters of the Spar brand.

“Our immediate priorities are to ensure a seamless integration of the business and assess store development opportunities, which will involve further investment.”
