CJ Lang & Son, the Spar food wholesaler for Scotland, believes the future of convenience retailing is in fresh food and has created a new position of fresh food controller.
Gordon Airth, former fresh chilled depot manager, has been promoted to the job in which he will have access to sales and development staff to assist in applying an agreed fresh retail range. He will also be training retailers in this key part of the convenience offer. The company said that the new focus on fresh underlined its determination to get its chilled produce range to the highest standard.
Airth started his career at William Low and then moved on to take management roles in Makro and Asda, with an emphasis on fresh, before moving to CJ Lang as a fresh chilled manager on the trading side of the business.
Scott Potter, who has been with CJ Lang for 12 years, takes on Airth’s previous job.
