Michael Clarke will take over the reins at Premier Foods two weeks earlier than previously announced.

The former Kraft Foods executive will now begin on 16 August.

"We are delighted that Mike is able to join Premier Foods two weeks earlier than originally envisaged,” said Premier chairman Ronnie Bell.

“I know he is eager to get into the business and start work and we look forward to his arrival. Mike's great skill in managing and growing brands is a critical strength to a business like ours, particularly given the challenges of the current trading environment.”

Clarke was unveiled last month as the replacement for outgoing boss Robert Schofield, who will leave the business following what Premier described as “a short handover”.
