The Co-operative Group is rolling out a new deli concept in its market town stores. Following input from Hygrade Foods, Dairy Crest and Malton, the Thriving and Striving plan was applied to the deli concept, splitting the range into upmarket tastes and more traditional products based on the location of stores. Sally Chew, head of category buying for chilled, said the scheme met with considerable success when it was piloted in five locations, including Bingham in Nottingham and Littleborough in Rochdale. She said: "In those five stores, we increased deli sales by 10%. "We've changed everything  product range, merchandising plans, presentation, even the uniforms." {{NEWS }}
