Leeds Co-op has launched a high-profile campaign to boost healthy eating in 2005.
The society, which operates 18 food stores in and around Leeds, will launch posters, radio ads and healthy-eating events, followed by in-store events over the year, including weight-lifting and pedometer giveaways.
Chief executive Alan Gill said: “We are going to provide some easy information for our members and other customers.”
Strong sales of fresh food and alcohol helped drive a 5.5% rise in like-for-like sales in the sopciety’s food division in the four weeks to January 1.
