Leeds Co-op is to start a pilot of an electronic dividend scheme at three of its convenience stores later this year. Chief executive Alan Gill said the new loyalty programme would be the only scheme of its kind on the c-store market. He said: "The plastic chip card will record purchases in stores, and calculates points to return part of the society's profits at the year-end." Members will get a profit-related payback every 12 months, in proportion to what they have spent on own label as well as brands. A similar scheme used by the Co-operative Group is only applicable on own label . The scheme will be rolled out after a six month trial that starts at the end of the year. It will allow members a share of 1-5% of profit. {{NEWS }}
