Champagne corks popped as staff at United Norwest Co-op's 2,100 sq ft c-store at Billinge, near Wigan, celebrated becoming the 100th to adopt the society's new blue and aqua imagery. United Norwest is investing £10m in a refurbishment programme and expects half its 300 stores to have the new colour scheme by early next year. The Billinge store, which has continued to trade as Hanburys since United Norwest acquired the group two years ago, has had a £160,000 makeover, including the addition of newspapers and magazines, a range of freshly-prepared continental breads and pastries, and chilled fruit and vegetables. {{NEWS }}
