The last remaining consortium in the bidding race for Somerfield has dismissed reports that it is ready to withdraw its interest in the supermarket group.

Weekend reports claimed that the consortium, which includes Apax Partners Worldwide LLP, Barclays Capital and the Tchenguiz Family Trust, was planning to withdraw.

The consortium has until Friday (October 14) to make a bid or withdraw.

Last week London & Regional Properties announced that it was pulling out of the bidding.
