Frozen ready meals retailer Cook has revamped its image to differentiate itself from Marks and Spencer's Cook! ready meal range.

A new-look fascia has been introduced at the retailer's 19th store, which opened last week in Weybridge, and will be applied to its new autumn and Christmas menu.

Earlier this year, Cook claimed that the packaging and wording of the M&S Cook! range of ready meals was so similar to its own that it was causing customers to believe it was supplying products to M&S

James Perry, MD of

Cook, said that the changes aimed to show that Cook made products that were "cooked by a person". He added that Cook was "fed up with being mimicked" so hoped the changes would prevent people from confusing Cook with other retailers' products.

Perry said the new look would be evolving over time and there were, as yet, no other plans to update existing stores.

Cooks's store portfolio is set to reach the 20-store mark when it opens a store in Clapham, south London, later this month.
