Somerfield has announced a management restructure to coincide with plans to ditch the Kwik Save brand in Scotland.

Changes are being made to cut down on overlapping roles within the business.

Robin Whitbread, Kwik Save MD and Somerfield Group buying and marketing director, has added group marketing and merchandising to his current responsibilities for group buying and Kwik Save stores.

Katie Peters will retain responsibility for Somerfield stores and will assume additional responsibility for retail services to all Somerfield and Kwik Save stores. This will be done through a number of new cental support functions for central operations, retail HR, retail finance, formats and retail change.

Somerfield executive chairman John von Spreckelsen said: “Basically we’re cutting out duplication. Also, having central services enables more of a cross-fertilisation of ideas.”

He added that the changes would mean some job cuts at head office.”
