The new Daybreak fascia will be available to retailers with stores of about 1,000 sq ft and a turnover of 115,000 a week.
Daybreak will be operated by Musgrave Retailer Services, which also runs the 240-strong Day Today. Musgrave plans to have 70 Daybreak stores in the next six months and 100 by the end of next year.
Daybreak will focus on “hero categories”, such as coffee, wine, deli and hot food. Paul Kerrigan, director of Musgrave Retailer Services, said: “We are focusing on the four categories that give us a point of difference and will deliver a large amount of profit.”
