Duchy Originals, the organic specialist established by HRH the Prince of Wales, will reportedly be unable to supply Sainsbury's with organic geese this Christmas.

An entire flock of organic free range geese set for the brand have been stolen by poultry rustlers from a farm in Devon, according to reports in The Times.

The thieves herded 350 Wessex geese, worth about £50 each, into a lorry before setting fire to the barn where they were being kept, killing 800 ducklings.

“This is a heartbreaking incident for the Amiss family, who have worked so hard and passionately to raise their geese organically and to the highest welfare standards,” a Duchy Originals spokesman told the paper.
