Bestway is experimenting with a new café concept designed to give independent retailers another string to their bow in their battle against the supermarkets.
The cash & carry group is piloting its first café in Romford, Essex, in conjunction with bakery supplier Country Choice. The standalone café is owned by Jayshree Kakard, an independent retailer who owns a Best One store nearby.
Bestway is also looking at integrating the café concept into stores.
The move follows the success of a similar scheme developed by independent retailers Mohammad and Farhana Saleem with support from their buying group, Nisa-Today's.
